Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation Anti-Corruption & Transparency Experts' Task Force

The APEC Anti-Corruption and Transparency Experts' Task Force (known in short as "ACT Task Force") was formed in March 2005, to advise Senior Officials from APEC in matters pertaining to the fight against corruption and the promotion of transparency. The Task Force which meets twice a year at the sideline of APEC's Senior Officials Meeting (SOM), has the following objectives:

  • Strengthens and further refines the APEC "Course of Action on Fighting Corruption and Ensuring Transparency" adopted in the Santiago Commitment in Chile in 2004.
  • Encourages APEC Member Economies, where appropriate, to put into practice measures and mechanisms outlined in the UNCAC (United Nations Convention Against Corruption).
  • Helps implement the APEC Transparency Standards by 2005 in domestic legal regimes.
  • Recommends any additional actions to fight corruption and ensure transparency (including the private sector) and denying corrupt offenders of their safe haven.
  • Develops specific benchmarks to help ensure that each APEC Member Economy is taking all appropriate steps and measures to implement agreed upon commitments.
Singapore, an APEC economy, is represented at the APEC ACT Task Force by CPIB.
