World Economic Forum

The World Economic Forum is an independent international organization committed to improving the state of the world by engaging leaders in partnerships to shape global, regional and industry agendas. The Forum publishes a yearly ranking report, Global Competitiveness Report (GCR). Corruption is one of the 8 sub-indexes which make up the overall "Growth Competitiveness" of a country. The corruption sub-index is derived from its world wide survey, which it conducts yearly amongst business executives and leaders.

For corruption related issues, respondents were asked to rate on a scale of 1 to 7 (with 1 as less common and 7 very common) the following questions:

  1. In your industry how commonly would you estimate that firms make undocumented extra payments or bribes connected with export and import permits?

  5. In your industry how commonly would you estimate that firms make undocumented extra payments or bribes connected with loan applications?
  6. In your industry how commonly would you estimate that firms make undocumented extra payments or bribes connected with influencing laws and policies, regulations, or decrees to favor selected business interest?
  7. In your industry how commonly would you estimate that firms make undocumented extra payments or bribes connected with making favourable judicial decisions?
